ethnic, traditional, alternative world,
local and diaspora music.

best magazines specialized in world music
and folk music. Mondomix is acually
issued in four editions: french, english,
italian and spanish.
The WMCE were
founded in 1991. Once a month
radio-Worldmusic-specialists from
twentythree european countries select their
individual top ten favourites out of current
Worldmusic releases from their playlists.
The nominations are processed in a data-base
and the top ten is then published as the
World Music Charts Europe.
MIDEM
(short for Marché International du Disque et
de l'Edition Musicale) is the world's
largest music industry trade fair, which has
been held annually at the Palais des
Festivals in Cannes, France, since 1967.
fRoots
(originally Folk Roots) is a specialist
music magazine published monthly in the UK.
It specialises in folk and world music, and
features a compilation cover CD twice every
year. In 2006, the circulation of the
magazine was 12,000 worldwide.
The "Premio
Tenco"'s festival is a musical award
existing in Sanremo (Italy) since 1974. The
award is coinceived around folk music,
mainly domestic but also international, and
it's dedicated to the italian
singer/songwriter Luigi Tenco.
The
"Sélection FIP" is a special bouquet of
album that the channel FIP, from Radio
France, chose two times per month. "La
sélection FIP" proposes 8 recent albums (2
jazz, 2 chanson francaise, 2
english-language, and 2 world music). The
choice is based not only on one or two
tracks but on the album as a whole.
